Travelling is an exciting and important part of many people’s lives and having a holiday is something most of us crave. Taking a break from our regular routine to relax, immerse ourselves in different cultures or have new experiences.
Whether you are travelling within Australia or internationally, it is important to consider booking in for a Travel Consultation 6 – 8 weeks prior to your holiday.
Overseas Travel
Travel is exciting, however, there are many conditions, cultures, laws and infections that may be completely different in overseas destinations from what we are exposed to at home. Even food and drink may pose a risk.
Our Nursing staff will check for any current health or safety alerts, the immunisations recommended for your overseas destination/s as well as giving you appropriate advice for your trip.
We will make recommendations to you based on the most current information available to us. This will take into consideration previous immunisations you have had that may still offer you coverage.
You will receive a travel pack which will include a vaccination card detailing the immunisations we have given you.
Domestic Travel
Even if you are only travelling within Australia, many people do not realise that their immunisations are not up to date or they are not immune to some infections that they thought they were. By booking a travel consultation we can check that you are fully up to date with your immunisations such as Measles/Mumps/Rubella, Tetanus/Diptheria/Pertussis (whooping cough), Influenza, Hepatitis B, Varicella (chickenpox) and Herpes Zoster (shingles).
You will receive a travel pack which will include a vaccination card detailing the immunisations we have given you.
We keep many immunisations on-site, so you can have them at the time of your consultation if you wish. Please note, any private immunisations given on the day are to be paid for at the end of your consultation.
If you have any questions about our travel clinic, or would like to book, please phone us. Alternatively, you can book online by selecting “Travel Consultation” as your appointment type.
