We all strive to have a healthy, happy life that we can enjoy with our families and peers. Good health sometimes comes naturally and easily, and at other times is a balancing act that can be tricky to manage.
At Edgeworth Family Practice, we provide a holistic healthcare service to help you to manage your health. This involves both assisting you to address your health concerns and incorporating preventative health care measures to reduce the chances of poor health outcomes.
Our Doctors and Nurses are highly skilled and have interests and expertise in many areas to support you through your healthcare journey.
As well as providing fantastic medical care, our clinic also is equipped to attend minor procedures such as skin excisions, removal of foreign bodies, and contraceptive implants.
If you have any health concerns you would like to discuss, book to see one of our Doctors or Nurses now.
TIPS FOR GOOD HEALTH AND WELL BEING
- Have a check-up once a year, even if you feel great! Sometimes there are early signs of larger health issues that can easily go unnoticed. Some things you may want to get checked include:
- Blood pressure
- Skin – for signs of sun damage including skin cancers
- A blood test as required, to assist in screening for unknown health conditions or check immunity to vaccine-preventable disease
- An STI screen
- Book an eye check with your Optometrist at least every 2 years
- See a dentist for a check-up and clean once a year
- Take the opportunity to have preventative health screening such as Cervical Screening and Mammograms for women, prostate checks for men, and bowel screening for all eligible adults. Talk to your Doctor or Nurse about the recommended screening periods.
- Look after you – your mental health will have a huge impact on how you feel day today. We all go through things that will affect our mental health. If you feel it is getting on top of you, please see your Doctor.
- Exercise – 2.5 hours of exercise a week has proven a reduction in risk for cardiovascular disease and diabetes. It also has a positive impact on your mental health both immediately, through the release of endorphins, and long term through improved body image and self-esteem.
- Eat well – the age old saying “eat everything in moderation” is a realistic picture of a healthy diet in today’s society. With so many options around us for fast food delivered right to our doors and busy lifestyles, it is easy to over-indulge. Eating plenty of FRESH food, made from scratch, minimises additives and ensures we know exactly what we are putting into our bodies. Learning how to read food labels on pre-prepared foods can also assist us in making the best choices possible. If you have any questions about your food intake or information on how to read food labels, you can book yourself in with a Dietician or see your GP for a referral.
